About TAMOKA Enterprise

Tamoka Enterprise is a family based business addressing mental illness in our community. CEO and Founder Tamia Mckinsey is a 21yr old Cyber Security college student, along side her is mother Tamoka Smith who deals with sever depression and older sister Marishika Smith who has Cerebral Palsy. The concept of the business started when founder Tamia was riding around the neighborhood and noticed everyone seemed to have a depressed facial expression on their faces. From then I started to think of ways to make a change. Our goal is to invite the world into our home and display how we handle our mental illness with laughter and products.

Company BackStory

Tamoka was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from Roosevelt Highschool “Go Roughriders”. Shortly after graduation she had her first born Marishika. She became a single parent and at the age of 3 months old Marishika suffered from baby shaken syndrome. Tamoka and Marishika didn’t receive the love and support from love ones. She then decided to pack up and move to Georgia to raise Marishika around a different environment. While in Georgia Tamoka became pregnant again with her second child Tamia. Still as a single parent she had to work as a server for over 15 years to fend for herself and two children. The family had a lot of tears and bumps in the road but kept their spirits high. In 2016 Tamoka got the news that her father got ill and her and the girls moved back to Des Monies, IA to lay her father to rest. The whole move up North wore hard on all the family especially Tamia. She had to leave her high school friends and support system that her mother build for the family over the years. One day Tamia noticed that everyone around her looked unhappy. Tamoka had an idea that would help and make a difference to show the world how they handled their mental illness. Tamia didn’t want her paintings exposed on the mugs at first, she felt that her work wasn’t good enough. Her mother convicted her that they were beautiful, and if they uplifted her spirits after a hard day then they might do the same for others. She finally agreed and went door to door hoping for a chance to sell her product. After all the no’s her and her mother still had hope and tried the last shop on their route. They then met Maruice with the TikToc and he gave them their opportunity of a life time by saying yes. That’s how the world got to meet TamokaEnterprise.
